The construction of the second railway track between the Port of Koper and Divača has been given the green light by the Slovenian Government. The purpose of the €1.3 billion project is to ensure an up-to-date and high-capacity connection between the Port of Koper and the railway network in Slovenia and the wider European railway network. As the country`s key infrastructure project, Slovenia is keen to promote the expansion and expects to receive funding from available EU sources and other private and/or domestic public sources.

Slovenian Infrastructure Agency released on the public procurement portal, on 20 January 2016, a public call for tender for the selection of the contractor for the review of technical solutions and possible rationalisation and optimisation for the second track of the Divača—Koper railway line. Tenders are due by 4 March 2016. For more information please click on the link – http://www.drugitir.si/en.
